With more than 130 Merit Badges—from Archery and Art to Welding and Wilderness Survival—Scouting is the ultimate form of learning by doing. Scouts BSA explores their interests and improves their skills while working toward Scouting’s highest rank: Eagle. By imagining, planning then doing their own service projects, Boy Scouts learn the value of hard work and experience the thrill of seeing it pay off. Add in outdoor adventures, hiking, camping, and Scouting gives boys and girls all the experience they need to become young men and women.
Behind every trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent Scout is a long line of committed volunteers who share those same traits. Volunteering has always been the very bedrock of the Scouting program. Volunteering is the key that unlocks the confidence kids need to stand on their own two feet. But it also opens the door for adults to share inspiring experiences with their own child, make friendships that will last a lifetime, and put a bunch of good kids on the path to a great life.
